Promotion of the book: Ten Years from the Ohrid Framework Agreement

The book “Ten Years from the Ohrid Framework Agreement -Is Macedonia Functioning as a Multi-Ethnic State?” was promoted on Thursday (22 December 2011) at the South East European University.

SEEU’s Rector Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika thanked everyone for their contribution and work done in publishing this book. “Politics and academia have different approaches for different processes. This book presents an academic approach on the Ohrid Framework Agreement and this approach is supported by the political representatives as well,” said Rector Dika.

The Deputy Prime-Minister for the Implementation of the Ohrid Agreement, Mr. Musa Xhaferi was present at this event and highly appreciated this book, describing it as a genuine analytical insight of the Agreement. “The Ohrid Framework Agreement is a process that began after 2001 and will continue because it is a general process of democratization of society in Macedonia and simultaneously brings closer the State and institutions to all ethnic communities in the country,” said Deputy Prime-Minister Xhaferi.

SEEU’s Pro-Rector for Research Prof. Dr. Blerim Reka, said that by publishing this book, the year-long SEEU research project in three volumes, in Albanian, Macedonian and English is finalized. “This book contains the contributions of local, regional and international diplomats and academics, and external mediators of the Ohrid Framework Agreement,” said Pro-Rector Reka.

The book is the result of a research project funded by the Secretariat for the Implementation of the Ohrid Framework Agreement, the U.S. Embassy, British Embassy and the Embassy of Sweden.

The book contains research papers, presented at the conference organized at the South East European University Tetovo on the tenth anniversary of OFA and was attended by several signatory parties of this Agreement.
