The program Diplomacy studieshas been designed to develop the conceptual understanding and comprehension of students about practices and procedures of modern diplomacy and to help them work efficiently in the diplomatic community. The program has been designed for diplomats, high representatives abroad, regional and international organization members as well as multinational corporations. This program is also dedicated to those who wish to develop their diplomatic career in the future or to work in different governmental and multi-corporative institutions. It is a combination of academic studies and professional trainings. The international communications sphere, international law and international trade are supplemented with academic disciplines that are studied. Professional aspects are explained by diplomats, politicians, and higher government officials who will lecture as visiting/external professors. The program consists of 60 ECTS and it is carried out through full-time studies lasting for two semesters.
Program objectives:
- develop the conceptual understanding and comprehension of students about practices and procedures of modern diplomacy;
- increase student competences to work efficiently in the diplomatic community;
- teach students to write and present research papers and compile research projects in the field of diplomacy;
- prepare students for work in diplomacy, diplomatic representations or foreign affairs sectors within different ministries as well as members of international trade organizations and other institutions.
Knowledge and understanding
- Has deep knowledge and competent understanding of theories in diplomacy.
- Has specific knowledge on negotiations, mediations and other form of conflict resolution.
- Has state of the art knowledge on the role of international organizations in diplomacy.
- Has clear knowledge and understanding on foreign policy and the main actors (state and non-state) that compose the foreign ministry’s dynamic network.
Applying knowledge and understanding
- Engage successfully in diplomatic small task; work in diplomatic representations or foreign affairs sectors within different ministries as well as members of international trade organizations and other institutions.
- Work as a member of a team to develop negotiating positions on international legal issues.
- Interpret the theoretical perspectives on international relations in specific cases.
- Describe the role that Diplomacy plays in world politics.

- Judge the current diplomacy and processes on international level.
- Appraise articles of varying complexity on international topics.
- Have the ability to interpret relevant data to inform judgments that include reflection on relevant diplomatic issues.
- Can perform critical thinking and deliver critical views on the work of diplomatic organizations such as foreign ministries and diplomatic missions.
Communication skills
- Write letters in the framework of the appropriate diplomatic communication.
- Write and present research papers and compile research projects in the field of diplomacy.
- Can communicate to audiences the forms of problem solving for specific cases in international relations and diplomacy.
- Develop the appropriate diplomatic communication and utilize a proper terminology with the representatives of diplomatic missions in Macedonia.

Research Methodology
The course “Research Methodology” aims to enable students of postgraduate studies at the Faculty of Public Administration and Political Sciences to conduct scientific research starting from the idea elaboration for research until gaining profound knowledge about quantitative and qualitative knowledge on data collection and processing.

International Public Law
The module is designed in a way that students will become familiar with basic concepts of international public law, often identified with international law in general, which receives its bases in the seventeenth century, as the right of nations to witness the name of today's most important universal organization the United Nations. Students will become familiar with modern international public law which regulates the relations between states, between states and international organizations, relations of international organizations and the behavior of persons and legal persons for whom states and international organizations believe are important for the international community.

This course introduces students to the theoretical components of international relations, key ideas and debates in international relations, particularly on basic concepts, actors in international relations, foreign policy and the power of international relations.

Foreign Policy Analysis
Through an analysis of papers published in terms of foreign policy students will be trained how the foreign policy tools can be applied to a concrete case study in this course. We expect students to be able to think critically in terms of foreign policy methods that states and international organizations use, as well as their connection with diplomatic methods.

Peaceful Conflict Resolution
The course examines judicial and non-court procedures for resolving dispute between states. The role of negotiations, mediation, reconciliation and the role of the United Nations for the peaceful resolutions of international disputes will be analyzed. This course examines the system of international arbitration: ad-hoc and within the already established tribunals as Iran-USA Claims Tribunal and ICSID. Practices and procedures of the International Court of Justice in both capacities as a mechanism for resolving international disputes on human rights, commercial law and maritime law will be studied.

Master Thesis
This module enables students to transfer their skills and knowledge to research and make more complex task of the Master thesis. The module is designed to be fully practical and students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to approach writing the thesis. The module has unique return result-to enable students to write the master thesis with minimal difficulties, and with maximum efficiency. The course aims to improve research techniques and style of writing paper, taking account to stop illegal means, such as plagiarism and infringement of copyright, which are prohibited by the Statute of SEEU.

Diplomacy and Diplomatic Methods
This advanced course examines the functions of diplomacy, the creation and termination of diplomatic relations, relations between the diplomatic and foreign policy, diplomatic secret service and espionage and principles, practices and problems of diplomatic immunity. It examines the organization of diplomatic missions abroad, the role of ambassadors and other diplomatic officers, including their responsibility to their governments and their relationship with governments of countries in which they are appointed. Analyzes how the diplomacy is related to communication, conflict management, negotiations and discusses the specialized diplomacy and the impact of technology on diplomacy. The course offers specialized training for the structure and mechanisms of diplomacy with extensive use of simulation techniques. Accent is given to writing and speaking skills, professional ethics, negotiation techniques and studies the bureaucratic organization. Enables students for the preparation of factual and analytical reports and memos, policy proposals and formal diplomatic correspondence as well as aspects of public relations, public policy statements and press conferences.

The aim of this subject is:
* To display the technical elements, the structure of the text and deign of a scientific research.
* To enable students to acquire advanced knowledge and skills from selected chapters of IT applications that will be needed in preparation of the scientific and research paper.
* Practical application of these objectives in preparing student’s individual research paper.
