CALL FOR ELECTION AND APPOINTMENT OF RECTOR

The South East European University (SEEU) (www.seeu.edu.mk) is a private-public not-for-profit University hosting about 4000 students, with seven faculties (Law, Contemporary Social Sciences, Business and Economics, Contemporary Sciences and Technologies, Languages Cultures and Communications, Health Sciences, and Technical Sciences), with its main university campus in Tetovo and another centre in Skopje.  The University has three working languages: Albanian, Macedonian and English.

Since the term of office of the current rector ends in August this year, SEEU is initiating the procedure for electing and appointing a new rector. This procedure will be carried out in accordance with the national Law for Higher Education and the University Statute.

The Rector is the chief executive officer of the University, leads a management team and reports to the University Board, which is made up of international and national members and is the appointing body.

The essential requirements for the position are:

  1. holding the academic title of full professor recognised in the Republic of North Macedonia,
  2. experience of management preferably gained in a university setting,
  3. enthusiasm for developing SEEU’s distinctive mission.

Good command of the working languages of the university is of particular importance, with a solid command of English being essential due to the international character of the university.

SEEU invites all qualified candidates who meet the above criteria to apply.

The appointment term is three years, beginning on 1 September 2025. The application package along with further details about the position and application process can be obtained from the Secretary-General, Dr Xhevair Memedi (x.memedi@seeu.edu.mk). Applications using the prescribed form (only) must be received through e-mail by the Secretary-General by 03 April 2025. Informal enquiries may be made of the President of the University Board, Dr Klaus Tochtermann (kw.tochtermann@seeu.edu.mk).
