The second cycle program 'Political Science' is designed so that students will gain knowledge in management, consulting, political, analytical, legal knowledge, skills and competencies, which will apply to non-governmental organizations.

- In the area of political sciences, public policy, Human resources management, economy and public institutions and others.
- Training and competence for management and maximal usage of resources in acquiring new knowledge.
- Planning new policies from different areas which are important for the State and society.
- Preparation for active engagement in leading scientific-research projects.
- With acquired scientific and professional knowledge graduates will be ready to be employed in specialized institutions from different areas in public and the state sector, private sector and civil society.

Knowledge and understanding

- Has advanced knowledge in theoretical issues underlying political life.
- Has deeper understanding on the significant principles and political processes.
- Has the ‘State of the Art’ knowledge in Political Science, towards developing and applying original ideas, often within a research context.

Applying knowledge and understanding

- Assist in the solution of problems of political nature using the institutional path.
- Is able to analyze, evaluate and interpret the existing political system in Macedonia and generate solution of problems relating to interethnic relations.
- Can take active part in all levels in institutions of the political system to apply advanced knowledge on political issues.
- Can analyze major arguments in political context, and apply political science findings to new situations.
- Can interpret the particular data and discuss what they mean for political life.

Making judgement

- Criticize the current political issues and give ideas for improvement.
- Select a topic, and develop it for a specific audience and purpose, with respect for diverse political perspectives.
- Appraise the strengths and weakness of Macedonian political processes
- Argue and defend the political phenomena and an ability to evaluate these through empirical and theoretical methods
- Evaluate how the political institutions emerge, how they operate, how they interact with their  external environment, and how they shape individual and collective behavior
- Evaluate the difference between analysis and opinion, and judge the existing accounts of political phenomena.  

Communication skills

- Can formulate political speech and use relevant political vocabulary.
- Communicate the conclusions of their scholarly research, their knowledge and insight to an audience beyond traditional academia
- Can articulate information and ideas to political parties and citizens.

Learning skills

- Can continue individual learning, self-education, and advancement during the process of lifelong learning, being aware of resources available in the framework of the political system.
- Take initiative to identify and address learning needs for groups and institutions on most complex and specific political issues.
- Is able to train citizens for political rights according to Macedonian legal order.
- Demonstrate advanced knowledge of the approaches to the study of Political Science, eg., normative v. empirical theoretical approaches, qualitative v. quantitative strategies of inquiry, and classical and contemporary political theories.

Semester 1

  • [MCPA1010] [6 ECTS] Research Methodology
    This course is designed for students who are preparing a Master thesis. The main objectives of the course is for students to be offered tools for construction of their thesis regarding the research question and creating methods for collecting data through qualitative and quantitative analysis. The subject is focused on problems of quantitative methods and techniques such as statistical analysis, texts related to the theory and testing hypothesis. In addition, of significance are topics of descriptive and causal inference, longitudinal, comparative and research case studies. Advanced information is offered for collecting data working with text. The aim is analyzing the data qualitatively, finally putting all theoretical and practical actions in the design and writing the thesis.
  • [MCDP1020] [6 ECTS] International Institutions
    This subject covers theoretical issues regarding the international institutions of universal and the regional level, their historical development, the role, functions and responsibilities. Especially is considered the question of their role in solving collective problems and issues in global politics. The focus is placed on their role in the area of peace and security, economic development, human rights, the democracy and the rule of law. The focus is on the main bodies within the institutions responsible for achieving the set goals.
  • [MCPS1015] [6 ECTS] Comparative Politics
    The course "Comparative Politics" aims to familiarize students with knowledge about most political systems in the modern world, of course without leaving aside the political systems of countries surrounding Macedonia and political systems of less developed countries around the world. This course is part of undergraduate and postgraduate studies in most schools of public administration, law faculties and the faculties of political science. During teaching this subject we will deal with parallelisms and comparative analysis between the functioning of the institutions of political systems in countries of interest, interrelated and in the case of the political system of the Republic of Macedonia towards finding good practices that would be promoted and political system of the Republic of Macedonia.

Semester 2

  • [MCPS2010] [24 ECTS] Master Thesis
    This module enables students to transfer their skills and knowledge to research and make more complex the task of the Master Thesis. Module is designed to be fully practical and students to acquire the necessary knowledge and skills to approach writing the paper. The module has unique return result-to enable students to write the master thesis with minimal difficulties, and with maximum efficiency. The course aims to improve research techniques and style of writing paper, taking account to stop illegal means, such as plagiarism and infringement of copyright, which are prohibited by the Statute of SEEU.
