The conference on behalf of the SEEU was opened by the Director Institute for Scientific Research Max van der Stoel, Prof. Dr.Veton Latifi, by noting that more than ever scientific engagements that bring documented facts that are needed. “At this stage we need more facts that are original and politically not instrumentalized that emerge from scientific research discussions that freely can positioned as potential starting point of scientific debate regarding the future development of society and the nation in general”, said Latifi.

One of the organizers of the conference, Prof. Dr. Nasir Selimi, evaluated the conference as the right one. “For the study, analysis and research of the Upper Reka, a province, which has been neglected, but very rich with values, customs, languages and very glorious history, I think that should be studied from all scientific angles. This conference opens a new chapter for values of this region", said Selimi. Prof. Dr. Ali Pajaziti said step by step we managed to gather in the one place people of science and knowledge, who approach the issues objectively.

With their presence and participation honoured the Conference the Vice-President of the Macedonian Parliament Ms. Suzana Saliu; Prof. Nexhat Mehmedi; Mayor of Municipality of Gostivar, Nevzat Bejta; Mayor of Municipality of Dibra, Ruzhdi Lata; the rector of the Royal University-Iliria in Prishtina, Prof. dr. Mixhait Reçi, President of the Islamic Community in Gostivar, Shaqir Fetahu, and other representatives of relevant institutions in Macedonia and beyond. It is worth mention that major contribution for this conference gave Mr. Rasim Zuferi, lecturer at SEEU.
