In a festive atmosphere, students from the University’s seven faculties paraded before the audience. For the first time, students from the Faculty of Technical Sciences were also part of the academic procession, marking a special moment in the University’s history.
The ceremony was opened by the President of the SEEU Board, Prof. Dr. Klaus Tochtermann, who connected the symbolism of the 22nd generation with the University’s mission.
“The number 22 is considered one of the most powerful numbers that can turn all dreams and desires into reality. This is beautifully reflected in SEEU’s mission: Bringing knowledge to life. SEEU has been training talented young people in a wide range of disciplines for many years and prepares them for their future careers. With the knowledge gained at SEEU, all students and staff members can realize their dreams,” said Prof. Dr. Tochtermann.
Addressing the graduates, SEEU Rector, Prof. Dr. Sadudin Ibraimi, emphasized the importance of this generation, which is graduating on the eve of the University’s grand jubilee.
“Generation 22 is a special generation. You are graduating in a very important year for South East European University. In November, our university will mark 25 years of its existence. This is a quarter-century of quality education, academic work, institutional development, and dedication to students,” said Rector Ibraimi, underlining that SEEU is built on the values of knowledge, inclusiveness, dialogue, and mutual respect.
The audience was also addressed by the Minister of Education and Science, Vesna Janevska, who congratulated the students on their achievements and encouraged them to contribute to the development of the country.
“I wish you perseverance and success in overcoming future challenges. Both the University and we expect your contribution to shaping the future of this country. This means staying here and seeking the opportunity for success here, and I am certain you will find it,” said Minister Janevska, expressing at the same time gratitude to the professors and their contribution to the advancement of education and science.
On behalf of the distinguished students from each faculty, the Student of the Generation from the Faculty of Business and Economics, Ilir Dushku, spoke and shared his emotions and gratitude for his family, friends, and colleagues.
“This diploma and this recognition are not mine alone; they are the fruit of the love, sacrifice, and trust you have given me throughout this time. I also thank my friends and colleagues, with whom we shared not only exams, but also the challenges, joys, and most beautiful memories of student life,” said Dushku.
The ceremony was hosted by Arbra Sulejmani. The festive atmosphere was looked after by Tetovo singer Rilind Alimani, SEEU professor and well-known singer Agim Poshka, who performed the University song “The Voice of Knowledge,” as well as Jeton Pustina together with the city choir and a classical music trio.
