The new building of the SEEU in Skopje was inaugurated

On Tuesday (19 November 2013), in a solemn ceremony, in Skopje was inaugurated the new building of the South East European University.

In the opening speech for the opening of this building, which is located in the so called building "The Bridge", the Rector of the South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, said:

“The project of South East European University ‘The Bridge’, in addition to its traditional academic mission represents a unique component in the space of higher education in the country. It is a project which integrates diversity in an environment that offers advanced standards of international contemporary knowledge. The diversity is not only of linguistic, cultural character but architectonic as well. This building is located in the heart of the Balkan architectures, strengthening the history of this university and its placement in this position, will promote not only economic development, but also the revitalization of the Old Bazaar.”

“The symbolism of this object has a completely the same meaning. Bridge, always bridges link two sides – left and right side. This bridge unites the Municipality of Centre and Municipality of Çair. The two largest ethnic communities living in the city of Skopje, Albanians and Macedonians "said Safet Neziri, Deputy Minister of Education.

“Not by chance the university bears this name not due to sides of the world, but because of the ambitions that has,"said Chairman of the SEEU Bord, Denis Farington.

“The symbolism of this object of the SEE University is beyond the symbolism of bridge because it represents the link between the U.S. and the EU ", said in his welcoming speech, the mayor Centre, Andrej Zhernovski.

“This university is synonymous of quality and high standards. Therefore would not have been better choice than this university, "said the mayor of Çair, Izet Mexhiti

Only after 3 months of works, the former building "Bridge" is adapted and is ready to welcome 900 students studying in 25 different study programmes.
