SEEU Deepens Partnership with the U.S. Embassy through its Alumni Network

Southeast European University (SEEU) is expanding its cooperation with the Embassy of the United States of America in North Macedonia, placing its alumni community at the center of new opportunities for exchange, professional development, and engagement in U.S.-supported programs and initiatives.

As part of this cooperation, SEEU today welcomed Ms. Laura Djuragic, Public Affairs Officer at the U.S. Embassy, and Mr. Gazmend Ilazi, Exchange and Alumni Coordinator.

During the visit, representatives of the U.S. Embassy met with SEEU Rector, Prof. Dr. Sadudin Ibraimi; Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani, Pro-Rector for Research and Entrepreneurship; Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, Advisor for Community and International Relations; and Prof. Dr. Veli Kreci, Director of the Max van der Stoel Institute.

A special part of the visit was a meeting with SEEU alumni, who represent an active community with diverse experiences in U.S.-supported academic, professional, and leadership development programs.

The meeting was attended by members of the alumni community, including Prof. Visar Shehu; Prof. Dr. Adrian Besimi; Prof. Dr. Blerta Abazi Çaushi and Prof. Dr. Agron Çaushi, participants in the USAID HELP Program; as well as Prof. Dr. Memet Memeti, who has been engaged in USAID-supported initiatives in the fields of local governance and transparency. The meeting was also attended by the Director of the Max van der Stoel Library, Elmedina Abdullahi, a participant in the IVLP program, as well as Edlira Palloshi-Disha, a participant in the American Council of Young Political Leaders (ACYPL) program.

Through their stories and experiences, the alumni shared perspectives on the impact these programs have had on their academic and professional development, as well as on opportunities to build new connections among the academic community, professionals, and partner institutions.

SEEU remains committed to building international partnerships that create concrete opportunities for students, alumni, and the wider community, further strengthening the university’s international dimension.
