NATO's Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, visited SEEU

“The Role of NATO in the Modern World” was the topic of a lecture given by the Assistant Secretary General for Public Diplomacy of NATO, Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, at South East European University-Tetovo, on Thursday (19.09.2013).

The Rector of South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, said that we are honoured that Mrs. Kolinda Grabar- Kitarovic is visiting our University.

“We as a University have contributed to the idea of Euro-Atlantic integration and we are aware of the importance of supporting the membership of Macedonia in these processes”, said Rector Dika.

“I am so glad to visit South East European University today and to meet some of the young bright citizens who will help your country to overcome the challenges that stand before you in the path towards economic prosperity and social progress”, said Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic to the assembled students. She also noted that “in the Western Balkans, Euro-Atlantic integrations are a key to stable and democratic societies.”

The Defence Minister of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Talat Xhaferi, spoke about meeting with Mrs. Kolinda Grabar-Kitarovic, and stressed the readiness of Macedonia, in all areas, to become a full NATO member.

The Rector’s Advisor, Mr. Demush Bajrami, quoted U.S. President Barack Obama, saying: "NATO is the true centre of security partnerships and there is no other institution like it in the world”.

After the lecture, students and the University staff had the opportunity to address questions related to the specific topic and to the overall Euro-Atlantic prospects of the region.
