The 10th Anniversary of SEEU Was Marked in a Solemn Ceremony

Rector Dika: A contribution of ordinary people who do great deeds

By awarding appreciations and a wrist watch by the President of the University Board to all (66) staff members, who for ten years remained with the University, and by awarding a certificate of appreciation to three retired professors from SEEU by the Rector of SEEU Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, Friday (18 November 2011), officially started the activities for marking the 10th anniversary of the South East European University. Moreover, the last generation of Doctors of Science that successfully defended their doctoral thesis were promoted in this ceremony.

“I bow to the contribution of ordinary people who do great deeds, so let me freely say: Long live the SEE University,” said Rector Dika.

According to Rector Dika, Friday’s ceremony is the main one because today we award a modest appreciation in value, but very great because of the importance to acknowledge people who have believed deeply in this project and since its establishment, they have contributed with passion and dedication to bring us where we are today.

On this occasion, he noted that the contribution is verified by evaluations of international institutions that have named SEEU as a model higher education institution in Macedonia and the broader region, identifying it as a leading university in the implementation of new European standards, introduced by the Bologna Process. This university, with its courage and vision, was the first to embrace cycles of study, credit transfer system, adopted quality assurance tools and started using information technologies at all levels of activity of the university.

“We were the first integrated university in Macedonia, as part of an integrated campus and leaders in transformation initiatives, such as the first Eco-Campus in the region. So, these people who believed in this project from the start and others who joined in this sacred mission, with strong support from the international community and friends from other universities, with an admirable dedication, we managed to put into life an idea perfect in form and content, with the sole purpose to create a different offer for our children, to educate a new generation that will differ from others, worthy to lead our society towards knowledge, progress and freedom," stressed, among others, Rector Dika.

Addressing the last generation of Doctors of Science, who were promoted at the ceremony, Rector Dika said that, "A doctorate degree is the highest title in the professional and academic world of scientific research. To achieve this act is needed a maximum investment and commitment to explore new scientific literature in related fields and to define problems by using appropriate methodologies for the investigation of truth, followed by the verification of hypotheses through measurements or experiments that result in solutions and guidance for further work.”
