In her welcoming remarks, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, Advisor for Community and International Relations at South East European University, highlighted that the University remains committed to promoting the values of equality, inclusion, and the empowerment of women in all spheres of academic and social life.
Meanwhile, Prof. Dr. Elisabeta B. Ollogu, Chair of the Women in Science Network, emphasized the importance of creating platforms that strengthen the voice of women in science and society. Prof. Dr. Merita Zulfiu-Alili, Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences, stressed the role of academic institutions in encouraging critical debate and advancing women’s rights and equal opportunities.
As part of the panel, Prof. Dr. Arta Mero presented the topic “Gender Equality on Paper, Relinquishment in Practice: The Violation of Women’s Inheritance Rights as Silent Economic Violence.” Prof. Dr. Zebide Ibraimi addressed the topic “The Internal Psychological Struggle for Autonomy,” while Prof. Dr. Rabije Murati presented “Great Achievements, Little Recognition.” Prof. Dr. Blerta Ahmedi presented the topic “The Role of Awareness of Rights in Preventing Gender-Based Violence,” while Prof. Dr. Lirie Aliti spoke on “Beyond ‘Congratulations’: Dismantling Psychological Barriers and Double Standards.”
The panel was characterized by open discussions and critical reflections on current challenges, highlighting the need for joint institutional and societal engagement to advance gender equality and empower women in all areas of life.
