The 7th Generation Graduation Ceremony was held at the South East European University

On June 11, 2011, the 7th Generation Graduation Ceremony was held at South East European University. The special guest invited to the ceremony and speaker was the Nobel Prize Laureate from the United States with ethnic Albanian origin Prof. Ferid Murad, delivering a greeting speech for SEEU graduates. SEEU’s Provost, Prof. Dr. Paul Foster declared the Graduation Ceremony open.

Among other invited guests were the Ambassador of Republic of Albania, H.E. Mr. Agim Çejku and the Ambassador of Republic of Kosova, H.E. Mr. Skender Durmishi, the Mayor Municipality of Tetovo, Prof. Dr. Sadi Bexheti, the Mayor Municipality of Gostivar, Prof. Dr. Rufi Osmani and the Mayor of the Municipality of Dibra, Mr. Argëtim Fida.
In his closing speech, SEEU’s Rector Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika said to the students that, “today, you are successfully completing a cycle of your academic education by taking on new responsibilities in implementing knowledge obtained during your studies at the South East European University.”
“From today you will be academic citizens, or the most worthily conductors of knowledge in areas where you will be living and working. This event is followed by a sense of enthusiasm for the University, managerial staff and professors, and I consider this as part of a family joy”, said Rector Dika.
“This year marks the 10th anniversary of SEEU - for ten years we have been in this location and have stayed true to our mission of educating a new generation of leaders for Macedonia, the Balkans, Europe and the World” said SEEU’s Provost, Prof. Dr. Paul Foster in his opening speech.
The Provost also said that this day was an important day for the graduates, because they have worked hard during their studies, gained new knowledge, learned new skills and have experienced a truly world class education here in the beautiful city of Tetovo.
The Nobel Prize Laureate with ethnic Albanian origin Prof. Ferid Murad, mentioned that the education of youth is of a great importance not only for forming their personalities, but moreoverl for all society. Prof. Murad hoped that a majority of graduates will continue to invest in knowledge in future, because this is a step that would broaden their perspectives.
“I am not here to tell you how precious and important education is because you already know that, and studies in this field show that the more educated you are, the more qualitative life and financial stability you will have,” said among others Prof. Dr. Ferid Murad .
