The South East European University (SEEU) feels obliged to respond publicly to the false and tendentious claims recently published by Emira Selimi, a former student of the University. These statements represent not only an attempt to tarnish the reputation of academic staff but also a direct attack on the credibility and integrity of the institution itself.
During her studies at SEEU, Emira Selimi actively participated in academic and cultural activities. At that time, she frequently expressed admiration for the work of professors and the institution. She received donated publications – including books about the “Alphabet Complex – Bitola” – and praised the authors, presumably seeking undeserved academic favors or grades. That behavior is in direct contradiction with her current public accusations.
This abrupt change in stance raises a fundamental question: what is the personal issue or complex that drives Emira Selimi? Was it wrong back then – when she sought benefits through flattery – or is it wrong now, as she resorts to defamation and baseless accusations against those who did not fulfill her expectations?
It is important to emphasize that SEEU operates under clearly defined standards of quality, transparency, and meritocracy. There is no space within the institution for favoritism or individual arrangements that violate these values. If someone believes they were “rewarded” undeservedly, it has never been the result of any institutional policy. SEEU’s evaluation and accreditation systems are regularly monitored by internal and external quality assurance mechanisms.
Public statements that aim to discredit the entire institution based on individual experiences fueled by unrealistic expectations are unacceptable. We consider them as expressions of personal frustration that do not belong in serious public discourse.
SEEU remains committed to upholding academic integrity through knowledge, dedication, and international standards.
