In his capacity as keynote speaker, the Rector of the South East European University, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, presented the topic “University Governance and Management – Specifics and Performance”. He spoke about the case of the South East European University, about the way of its establishment, statute, autonomy, financing and accountability.
"SEEU's governance model is specific to our closest region because it is based on the American and Western European experience since its establishment, especially in capacity building. The main principles of governance of educational institutions are transparency, accountability, efficiency and effectiveness and if these principles are not applied then there is no good governance", said among others Rector Bexheti, in his presentation, which was followed by numerous discussions and questions.
SEEU's Pro-Rector for International Cooperation and Research, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi welcomed the representatives of the university consortium within the project, emphasizing that SEEU is the best example of university governance.
"We look at the STAND Project as a very important pillar to further develop capacities and tools for university autonomy, especially in the context of financial autonomy and leadership," said Pro-Rector Arifi.
The event is also attended by Thomas Estermann, Director of Governance, Funding and Public Policy Development at European University Association, as well as the Deputy Director Enora Bennetot Pruvot.
Welcoming speech on behalf of the STAND project management team, was delivered by Prof. Dr. Jelena Djokic from IBC University of Mitrovica
Prof. Dr. Sc. Bujar Gallopeni, from IBC-Mitrovica University, spoke about the goals and objectives of the project.
The workshop is realized in plenary sessions, where works are presented and specific topics to the main topic are addressed.
The workshop is attended by universities from the region, such as: Hasan Prishtina University, University of Tirana, Kadri Zeka University, University of Applied Sciences in Ferizaj, Fehmi Agani University, Aleksandar Mosiu University, Polis University and the University of Montenegro, as well as representatives of the University of Hamburg, the University of Foggia and the University of Zagreb.
