This year's ceremony was honoured by the presence of the Macedonian Minister of Education, Mr. Pishtar Lutfiu; the Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Macedonia, H.E. Charles Garret; Iran's Ambassador to Macedonia, H.E. Saied S. Mohammadi, and other guests.
The President of the SEEU Board, Prof. Dr. Dennis Farrington, said that in November this year our University will officially mark its 15th anniversary.
“Today is about you and your future. We hope that you will think and reflect on what you can contribute to your country and your community. Our graduates are employed in senior positions in the public and private sectors in the Republics of Macedonia and Kosovo and elsewhere, and where they have gone, so you can follow,” said Prof. Farrington.
The Rector of South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, urged graduates to be proud of their University.
“Standing before you today, I feel joy for your accomplishments, and confidence in your ability to bear the responsibilities that lie ahead. At the same time, I feel the magnificent energy that you emit and reflect. If you preserve the knowledge and experiences that you have absorbed from your professors and colleagues, I'm sure that you will continue to make us proud of your achievements. I firmly believe that graduates of South East European University are changing, and will change, our realities; and the twelfth generation’s intellectual capacities will prove to be powerful forces for running this ship into Euro-Atlantic waters,” noted Rector Dika.
The Minister of Education and Science of the Republic of Macedonia, Mr. Pishtar Lutfiu, said that his Ministry will be allied with this institution in educational and scientific research processes.
“Today, I feel privileged, because I have been given the opportunity to be present among graduated students of the University ranked among the best institutions of higher education in the country and the region. This University is also a promoter of changes and advanced ideas for increasing the quality of higher education, and a promoter of national and democratic values. It is a centre of knowledge and arena of competition for greater quality,” said Minister Lutfiu.
The Ambassador of the United Kingdom, H.E. Charles Garret, expressed his pleasure in being back at SEEU and noted his enormous respect for this institution, remarking that he is also a great fan of Tetovo.
“I envy you enormously. In graduating, you have been given the tools to go out and find those opportunities. That doesn't need to be out in the wider world, though some of you may see diplomacy as your role. For many of you, you will be making a difference here in Macedonia. It is impossible to say where and when those opportunities will present themselves to you. It might be here in Tetovo. It might be in London or Paris. It might be in Hong Kong. But when you see them, be ready, be quick not slow!” said Ambassador Garret.
On behalf of the students of this generation Fjolla Zllatku, from the Faculty of Languages, Cultures and Communications (Department of International Communications), addressed the audience. Ms. Zllatkuthanked the parents and teachers for the support they have provided.
“I want to welcome our respected teachers and thank them for our motivation and inspiration. You, honourable professors have met all our expectations and certainly have confirmed the value of this University,” she noted.
An award of special recognition was given to the students with the highest cumulative GPA, acknowledged by Faculty affiliation.
