In his introduction, the Rector of South East European University, Prof. Dr Zamir Dika said, 'One aim of this conference is to promote a more serious commitment to quality improvement in the delivery of knowledge. This, we believe, will contribute to a more advanced system of quality management. In higher education, this means the quality of how we assess students, staff, institutions and systems.’
The University's Quality Advisor, Heather Henshaw, added, ‘The purpose of the conference is to make an real impact on the quality of evaluation, training and development in higher education in the region.’
Frances Owen, an expert in the field of quality assurance from the United Kingdom and a Key note speak, highlighted the growing trend in the UK for student engagement in the educational experience, the "student voice", and role of the National Student Survey in driving up academic standards and support services.
Prof Kevereski, a member of the Macedonian Accreditation and Evaluation Board, also presented the work of this body and its plans for external evaluation.
One of the most positive aspects of the conference was the active participation of students, who presented academic posters and reported their views on all the sessions.
The Conference was a good opportunity for sharing experiences and exchanging ideas. A selection of full papers will be published in conference proceedings.
