SEEU celebrates the book of Servet Pëllumbi

The book includes reflections on the theory and practice of democracy, with concrete examples of Albanian democracy and other Balkan countries.

“I am pleased to be here at this University and to meet with my colleagues”, said Professor Servet Pëllumbi, during the promotion of his last book “Etikokracia, refleksione mbi teorinë dhe praktikën e demokracisë”, which was held on Friday (18.04.2014), at SEEU.

Speaking about the book, Prof. Servet Pëllumbi said that he doesn’t like book promotions very much and, for that reason, just a few of his books are promoted in Tirana. Yet the need for uniting philosophical thinking, and for sharing knowledge among intellectuals, brought him gladly to promote his book in Tetovo. He said that the book has raised and addressed some ethical issues of democracy, and it attempts to answer the question of whether there is something beyond democracy; according to him, this is the new democracy as against countries with developed democracy.

“Democracy must be like a symphonic orchestra with good instruments, with quality scores and with a good conductor" said Prof. Pëllumbi.

Speaking in praise of the book were: Nora Malaj, Deputy Minister of Education and Sports and Vice- president of the Albanian Sociological Association; Lek Simo, President of the Albanian Sociological Association; Prof. Dr. Hasan Jashari, Prof. Dr. Ali Pajaziti and Kseanela Sotirofski, Dean of the Faculty of Education at the University Aleksandër Moisiu-Durrës.
