French Ambassador Laurence Auer lectured within the Diplomatic Lectures Series of the Max van der Stoel Institute

The Ambassador of France in Macedonia Laurence Auer presented a lecture on the contemporary principles and doctrines of the French Foreign Policy at a public event organized by the Scientific Institute of the SEEU “Max van der Stoel” within the latest program of the Institute “Diplomatic Lectures Series”.

While she explained the principle of universalism within the French foreign policy she noticed that “human rights and respect of the international law are the main principles of universalism” said Ambassador of France Auer on March 31st 2014 at the SEE University campus in Tetovo.

In front of numerous students and scholars of the SEEU Ambassador Auer explained as well as the latest developments within the world politics and Balkans from the viewpoint of the French diplomacy. Speaking on the name issue dispute between Macedonia and Greece she emphasized that two countries should find compromise on the name issues and the compromise should be accepted by two sides.

Speaking on her contemporary understanding of the doctrines of the French foreign policy, among others Ambassador Auer said that the diplomacy is not destined only to the international relation experts, but also to the people with economical background who have economical power through investments, good business, good universities, foreign students, etc.

At the latest edition of the Diplomatic Lectures Series, the French Ambassador Auer explained that France always is committed to have its peaceful and security mission all around the world when it comes to the conflicts that escalate. Within the international missions like those in Libia, Iraq, Afghanistan and Kosovo the role of France always it has been related to introducing peace and security in these states. According to her in this view it is positioned the doctrine of foreign policy of France.

In his introductory speech the Director of the SEEU’s Scientific Institute “Max van der Stoel”, Prof. Dr. Veton Latifi recalled that that since the end of the Second World War the European construction seems to be one of the leading principles of the French foreign policy. According to him there seem to be several reasons for this: “the desire to restore peace and guarantee the security of the states, strengthen democratic government and make the European construction a reality and develop it into respected political forum.”
