Quality Champions visited SEEU

The University on 24th of March welcomed the new External Quality Champions, Frances Owen and Steve Bristow, who started a one week visit by meeting the Rector, Senior Executive Team, Deans and Administrative Directors as well as the Student Parliament and Association. They are here at the invitation of the University in order to evaluate and advise on enhancing the quality of Faculty management, improving performance management processes and developing the most positive experience for our students.

Professor Steve Bristow specializes in corporate governance, strategic analysis, policy evaluation and quality assurance, particularly in the education and training sectors. His career includes being Deputy Vice-Chancellor of the University of Glamorgan, Wales, Principal and Chief Executive of Shrewsbury College of Arts and Technology, Head of Inspection Services/Senior Advisor at the British Accreditation Council for Independent Further and HIgher education and Chief External Examiner for the Institute of Directors. He is an Associate of the Quality Assurance Agency for Higher Education, UK, a member of the Quality Standards Group of UK NARIC and since 2008, has advised the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology in Kosovo on higher education. He is also one of three international members of the National Quality Council of the Kosovo Accreditation Agency and played a key role in drafting the Law on Higher Education in the Republic of Kosovo in 2011.

Frances Owen has expertise in corporate governance and quality assurance, the development and implementation of organizational strategy, and management within large and complex environments. She has worked at the Universities of Loughborough, City and Hull as well as in a research organization. Her posts include Quality Director, University Registrar and Director of Academic Development and Academic Registrar. She has acted as quality consultant to a number of European Universities.

South East European University continues to make quality enhancement central to its strategy and work and aims to use the findings from the visit for the benefit of students and stakeholders.
