The Mayor of Tetovo, Ms. Teuta Arifi, was one the presenters at this conference; she spoke about her experience in terms of gender equality.
“In the last decade, in the Balkans, positive efforts have been made in advancing the position of women in society. During my work as a politician I have had tremendous support from women. In the municipality of Tetovo, 45% of the managerial positions are held by women," said Ms. Arifi, who added that women are contributing to our world, and that such holidays should serve as a cause for reflection.
HE Ms. Laurence Auer, Ambassador of France in Macedonia, said that the position of women in Macedonia is progressing, but that there is still work to be done. She observed that the Municipality of Tetovo is a positive example in this regard. She said that even in EU countries there are still many gaps in advancing the position of women.
Also speaking in this conference presentations were Ms. Aude Valsesia, the Director of the Alliance Française de Tetovo, and Ms. Julie Chamberland, an expert in cultural projects.
