Mr. Strohmeier informed Rector Dika about the future orientation of the scientific research policies of the European Commission, as well as the expectations of the Commission in regard to the development of research capacities of universities in the future.
The SEEU delegation also met (18 and 19 February) with other responsible officials of the directorates and units of the European Commission covering cooperation with Western Balkan countries. These meetings brought together officials responsible for the international cooperation programmes of the European Commission in the field of higher education, and representatives of the programmes Horizon 2020, Erasmus and Jean Monnet. The SEEU delegates discussed with them the opportunities that these programmes offer, as well as specific areas that would be interesting and beneficial for SEEU to orient its research capacities and upon which areas to focus its interest. An additional topic considered was the expectations that these European programmes hold for participating universities, such as SEEU; SEEU has special features, in that it is a university with private-public status, with a multicultural structure in terms of staff and students, and maintains international involvement and a consistent pursuit of trends in higher education and scientific research.
RectorDika informed the representatives of relevant departments of the European Commission about the latest developments in SEEU in terms of internationalization, the development of the research capacity of the staff, quality management of learning and teaching, and the maximum efforts that the university is undertaking both to maintain its primary mission and to develop further its institutional policies for a more contemporary role of the university in the multicultural society in Macedonia.
