With the introduction of undergraduate studies in Architecture and Design, as a separate first cycle, with an emphasis on professional orientation, a number of collaborators are profiled who are needed in the development of the economy, from construction as the primary focus, to smaller creative industries based on industrial and graphic design.
With the undergraduate studies in Architecture and Design, students acquire:
- knowledge of the various aspects of the design, planning and construction process, and their application in the development of various project documentation, which enables them to be solid technicians as collaborative staff in architectural and urban bureaus;
- graphic competences, i.e mastering analog and digital tools for representing space and artistic expression, manual and machine craft skills such as making different types of models, which allows them a range of opportunities in the creative industry both within and outside the field of studying;
- communication skills, responsibility, precision and teamwork, which are the basics of the education to be an architect, and which are desirable in every working environment;
Architecture is a regulated profession under the Directive of the European Parliament and of the Council on the common recognition of diplomas, certificates and other evidence of formal qualifications in architecture (2005/36/EC), Article 46 of the Directive and the Directive of the European Association for Architectural Education (EAAE) of 2001. In the Republic of North Macedonia, architecture as a profession is defined by the Law on Construction, where access to the profession is regulated through the process of issuing authorizations by the Chamber of Certified Architects and other Certified Engineers of RNM and according to the Law on Higher Education (82/18 in Article 147/12), a mandatory condition for an architect to gain access to all authorizations in the field of architecture and urban planning is to have an architectural education at the university level with five years of studies - 300 ECTS credits.
By completing the first cycle - undergraduate studies in Architecture and Design with 180 ECTS, the student gets access to the B authorization for construction engineer, according to the Law on Construction, that is, the opportunity to manage the construction of buildings of the second category (B).
In addition to the enrichment of the economy in the area of professional orientation of the associate staff, with many opportunities for employment even after the completion of the first cycle of studies - undergraduate studies in Architecture and Design, it also represents an accessible degree of necessary education (180 ECTS) for enrollment in the second cycle of studies - postgraduate studies in architecture (120 ECTS), which gives access to the full rights of architecture as a regulated profession.
Completing the first cycle of undergraduate studies in Architecture and Design provides a better access to the profession in accordance with the national framework of professional qualifications:
A. Acquiring the title of graduate engineer architect and the possibility of employment after the first cycle as a:
1. Construction engineer, according to the Law on Construction, that is, management of the construction of buildings of the second (B) category;
2. Architectural technician, supervisory technician, technical associate in architectural, urban and planning bureaus, expert associate for art and culture, graphic and multimedia designer, according to the National Classification of Occupations.
B. The possibility of continuing education in the second cycle of graduate studies in architecture and obtaining the title of master engineer architect, which allows full access to the architectural profession at different levels and in different areas that offers a comprehensive response to the needs of the labor market in the Republic of North Macedonia.

Academic English is a one semester course which aims to enable the students with skills which can facilitate their language learning and their study progress in an academic teaching and learning environment. The course should enable them to use those skills in both foreign language classroom as well as academic progress in content areas. The course incorporates language skills, study skills and generally applicable skills (listening, delivering oral presentations, constructing arguments) in specific assignments. Therefore, upon successful completion of the course, the students’ proficiency level should be at C1 according to Common European Framework. As a result, the students should be able to deliver successfully oral presentation, participate in an online debate/ discussion forum stating their opinion and arguments and give feedback to others in a constructive manner. In addition, the students should be able to listen and read for gist and detail and write an argumentative paragraph and essay stating their opinion. They should and write a problem solution paragraph and essay. They should be able to present visual information in a form of Power Point poster presentations.
