The Civil Law study program aims to provide a range of modules that will form the basis of information and advanced knowledge on Civil Law matters for the purpose of training students to basic legal professions related to this field by providing solid knowledge, the specific and systematic institutes and concepts of Civil Law in R. Macedonia and comparative knowledge to the region and the EU.

A Diploma in this study program will enable  PhD students to conduct scientific research work in the field of Civil Law sciences, as well as teaching at universities in the country and abroad, and also will be actively involved in the process of strengthening the resources of government activities in terms of the country's Euro-Atlantic integration process.

Knowledge and understanding
  • Has detailed knowledge of civil law, as well as material аnd procedural as well as basic norms in key areas of civil law.
  • Has detailed knowledge of the principles and institutes of civil law, including the origin and contents.
  • Assess the areas of civil law in a critical manner, the scientific and practical standpoint.
Applying knowledge and understanding
  • Develops and promotes analytical and research skills of selecting the problems in theory and practice through the use of legislative acts and judicial practice;
  • Identifies and analyzes the most complex problems, taking an active part in all phases of civil procedure and can perform complex issue civil legislation;
Making judgement
  • Performs more critical thinking through methods of analyzing and comparing.
  • Develops skills of solving problems through case-law practices of more complex national and international cases;
Communication skills
  • Utilizes proper terminology for complex and specific issues in the area of civil law sciences;
  • Is able to reach decisions and work more directly and effectively in all stages of civil court procedure.
  • Is involved in research based legal argumentation and debate;
  • Utilizes the official languages of the University as well as more advanced computer skills in the research work.
Learning skills
  • Develops a regulation of research to be used in their profession.
  • Creates a practice of lifelong learning and service through being involved in training persons that work in the state institutions of crime prevention.

Semester 1

  • [10 ECTS] Research Methodology
    Students will be able to: - To apply the main methods of legal and other research. - To collect research material in a critical way that is relevant and which are cited by the authors in their responses. - To understand the scope of the research and access to various methods of research, being able even to their critical review. - To study the relationship between legal theory and research practice through an advanced approach - To apply skills and knowledge learned in their theses.
  • [10 ECTS] Civil and Property Law - depth program
    The concept of the curriculum aims for students to acquire the ability to apply their practical knowledge of civil law, a skill that every lawyer should possess. Largely expected by the student is the ability to develop the technique of proper application of legal rules (reading and interpretation of civil legal norms). Also, the student is expected to possess normative technique: Transactions (contracts, wills), preparation of various types of complaints (lawsuits, complaints, objections, requests), and the preparation of judicial acts (judgments, decisions) and acts other administrative bodies (decisions, contracts) that stimulate and change the civil legal relations. Аlso, the concept of the curriculum aims for students to acquire the ability to apply their practical knowledge of property law. Largely expected by the student to develop the technique of proper application of legal rules of property law.
  • [10 ECTS] Civil Procedural Law - depth program
    Specific objectives of this program consist of training of students to identify and critically analyze the fundamental institutions of the contested procedure, non contentious and execution procedure as well as to develop skills of applying knowledge gained in practice in relation to the conduct of these proceedings.

Semester 2

  • [10 ECTS] Review and Approval of the Doctoral Dissertation Plan
    After the first semester, the student begins his activities for the development of the plan on his doctoral dissertation. Activities include the definition of literature, defining hypothetical framework, the definition of the work methodology and determination of the individual plan as well as the first public presentation. If necessary, can be held elective courses for this purpose.

Semester 3/4

Concentration: Semestri 3 / Semestri 4
  • [40 ECTS] Scientific Research Work
    In the second year (semester 3 and 4) the candidate continues with research activity by approved individual plan. Mentor provides assessment on these activities in the form of a report to the Scientific-Teaching Council of the Faculty.
  • [20 ECTS] Publications I
    Publication of research activities under the table relevant to the media for publication. Publication activities and successes of the candidate checked before scientific audience by area and the relevance of the research.

Semester 5

  • [20 ECTS] Presentation of Research Results
    At the end of the 5th semester, after the research activities under the individual plan, overall results of this phase of the paper and the research will be presented publicly by the candidate.
  • [10 ECTS] Publications II
    Publication of research activities under the table relevant to the media for publication. Publication activities and successes of the candidate checked before scientific audience by area and the relevance of the research.

Semester 6

  • [30 ECTS] Doctoral Thesis
    Continuing the work of doctoral dissertation. Submitted thesis (dissertation), accepted by the Scientific-Teaching Council of the Faculty and submitted to committee members and begin the procedure of public defence.
