• [DPA0101] [10 ECTS] Research Methodology
  This course is designed for students who are preparing to carry out a doctoral thesis project. The main objective of the course is to offer students tools conceptualising their thesis regarding research issue and the creation of data collection methods and qualitative analysis. The course is focused on problems of the quantitative methods and techniques, such as statistical analysis, texts related to theory and testing hypotheses. Then, the meaning and topics of descriptive and causal inferenceare of a great importance, longitudinal comparative research and case study. Advanced information data collection will be offered for working with text. The goal is to analyze the quality of data and incorporate all theoretical and practical performances in the function of designing and writing of the thesis.
• [DPA0102] [10 ECTS] Doctoral Dissertation Writing
  This course is a complement to subject research methodology which trains students with advanced knowledge, and skills to prepare and complete the doctoral thesis. Students become familiar with methodological techniques of a real research situation, preparation of questionnaires, surveys with direct examples. Through topics as research and as an individual sample paper will familiarize students with scientific research work, organizational analysis in social science and the different approaches used by scientists when analyzing a social phenomena. Practical and theoretical settings in the beginning of the writing, the advantages of faster onset of parts, a clear definition of objectives and phenomena are topics that will encourage students. Consenquently gathering, writing and storing data for ideas as design work, in a doctoral project.
• [DPA0103] [10 ECTS] Public Policy Analysis
  The course aims to enable students to define and illustrate the analysis of the policy and its role in the creation and transformation of policy-relevant information. There is no agreement on how precisely to define public policy. Students will have the opportunity to learn about this field and to critically analyze developments and events in the area of public policy. Public policy analysis is a discipline for problem solving that draws knowledge from social science methodologies and theories underlying social professions and policy philosophy.

Semester 2

• [DPA0104] [10 ECTS] Review and Approval of the Doctoral Dissertation Plan
  After the first semester, the student begins activities for the development of the plan on his doctoral dissertation. Activities include the definition of literature, defining hypothetical framework, the definition of the work methodology and determination of the individual plan as well as the first public presentation

  • [EDPA0101] Public Institutions and Management
    The course covers the concepts of public management and good governance, including the tradition of management in the field of public administration, evolution and contemporary character of public management. The course also covers elements such as performance management, arranging, privatization, and outsourcing and network management. Also, this course will cover theories of decision makeing, organizational processes, motivation and leadership, communication skills and their application in public institutions.
  • [EDPS0103] Politics and Governance in the European Union
    The course is designed to train students with advanced theoretical and empirical knowledge of the systems of governance in the EU and EU policies. The core of this course is to present how EU functions today, its policies and how does the system of governance in the EU function. By studing this course, students acquire the knowledge of how does the EU function politicaly and institutionaly, who are the main actors of decision-making procedures through which EU rules and which are it’s main policies.
  • [EDPS0104] Comparative Politics
    The course helps students acquire knowledge from the field of institutions and political system by comparing similar institutions in other political systems. In general the aims of this subject can be highlighted as following: - Understanding the essence of the functioning of political systems in general, - Initiating critical thinking within the group, - Enabling the acquired knowledge to be used for giving argumented assesments for the functioning of political systems in the respective countries, - Developing communicative skills of students, - Acquisition of relevant knowledge about the functioning of political systems - Training on the advantages and disadvantages of the political systems of different countries around the world, as well as the similarities and differences between different types of political systems and others.
  • [EDPA0102] Public Program Evaluation
    The purpose of this course is to familiarize students with techniques for analyzing the effectiveness of public sector organizations. Students will acquire skills in formulating evalution questions, sample selection, planning and data collection, analysis of the results of evaluation, designing a budget for evaluation, reporting and communication of evaluation results to the various stakeholders, development of competencies ethical and policy issues associated with the evaluation.

    This course will provide meaningful analysis and understanding of higher education through the prism of public policy. Policy-making process in higher education significantly affects national and regional level. The course will focus on public policy, as they are generated, management and policy in higher education, institutional forms of action and cooperation and others. The course will offer theoretical and practical skills for students who are being prepared for careers in public policy admnistration, governmental and non-governmental sector and so on.

Semester 3/4

  In the second year (semester 3 and 4) the candidate continues with research activity by approved individual plan. Mentor provides assessment on these activities in the form of a report to the Scientific-Teaching Council of the Faculty.

  Publication of research activities under the table relevant to the media for publication. Publication activities and successes of the candidate checked before scientific audience according to the area and the relevance of the research.
• [DPA0105] [5 ECTS] Student Mobility
  The aim of PhD students’ mobility is to request candidates to present, exchange and discuss their research work with their colleagues from other European countries for improving the quality of their dissertation.

Semester 5

• [DPA0106] [20 ECTS] Presentation of Research Results
  At the end of the 5th semester, after the research activities under the individual plan, overall results of this phase of the paper and the research will be presented publicly by the candidate.

  Publication of research activities under the table relevant to the media for publication. Publication activities and successes of the candidate checked before scientific audience according to the area and the relevance of the research

Semester 6

• [PA-PhD-THESIS] [30 ECTS] Doctoral Dissertation
  Continuing the work of doctoral dissertation. Submitted thesis (dissertation) is accepted by the Scientific-Teaching Council of the Faculty and then is submitted to committee members after which the procedure of public defence starts.
