Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences--Prof. Dr. Merita Zulfiu Alili, thanked all the participants for their contribution to the successful organization of this conference.
Rector of the University of Southeast Europe, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, in his opening speech in particular thanked WBF (Western Balkans Fund) for supporting this conference, with such an important and significant topic for public administration.
"I have just returned from another conference, which was held within the framework of the Berlin Process, as the only representative from Macedonia, in which a very important topic was also addressed, such as science and the capacities for science in the Western Balkans", said Rector Bexheti.
Rector Bexheti said that in general there is a dose of optimism for the results achieved, but if we refer to the figures, North Macedonia in this regard is at the lowest level of investment in research, contributing 0.2% of GDP, while itself SEEU allocates 3% of its budget for research.
Beside the key speaker of the conference--Ana Krstinovska, Jelena Mrdak--Programme Manager, at the Regional School of Public Administration (ReSPA), also addressed the audience.
Speaking about capacity and investment in research to improve the current situation in public administration and other sectors, Rector Bexheti said that it is necessary to invest in science and real research and support new researchers.
The conference continued its work in sessions where representatives of institutions that create public policies, such as: Hasim Murtezani, Deputy Secretary- General of the Government of North Macedonia, Mentor Borovci, Director of the Prime Minister's Legal Office, of Kosovo and Ardita Dema Mehmeti, Deputy-director of the Association of Local Self-Government Units of North Macedonia presented their works on this topic.
