The NORMAK Sustainable Energy project is focused in three pillars: Renewable Energy Resources, Energy Efficiency and Smart Grids, encompassed into Sustainable Energy as the common denominator, which is in line also with the countries energy R&D reports.
NORMAK Sustainable Energy will raise institutional capacities and strengthen R&D Energy system sectors in Macedonia, Albania and Kosovo through higher education knowledge/teaching process, R&D know-how and technology transfer from Norway.
The three countries share main energy challenges, represented in energy deficiency, heating issues, poorly regulated market, low energy efficiency and underdeveloped human resources. In addition very low public and private investments in R&D compared to GDP complicate efforts toward use of alternative energy sources.
The accumulated Norwegian know-how and teaching content/methodologies will be transferred to MAK recipient universities through 1 new Master Program and 2 new undergraduate teaching subjects (Energy and Environment, and ICT for Sustainable Energy) shared among the three universities. Regional student mobility will be supported by offering 1 semester of the new master study program at Gjovik University, combined with practical R&D in several Norwegian partner companies. Finally, R&D matchmaking among regional and Norwegian universities and industrial partners will be done, followed by technology transfer activities and commercial collaboration within 3 local and 1 regional R&D projects.
The Project Aim is to contribute to economic growth by developing institutions and structures at HE institutions capable of carrying the changes needed for strengthening of the Sustainable Energy sector by enhancement of HE study programs, R&D know-how and technology transfer from Gjovik University College to three MAK universities and Direct B2B cooperation between Norway and target countries.
