The first master thesis defence through video conferencing at South East European University

On 24th June, 2009 the candidate Iranda Bajrami from the Faculty of Languages Cultures and Communications – English Language Teaching and the lector at the Language Centre (SEEU) defended her master thesis successfully.  This defence deserves a special attention because this was the first defence through video conferencing at SEEU.

The master thesis titled “An Investigation Into the Role of University Teachers in Reinforcing Student Motivation” was defended in the presence of the three members of the committee including: Benjamin Keatinge, Ph.D. (President of the Committee), Sami Ibrahimi Ph.D. (Member) and Judy S. Richardson, Ph. D – Professor Emerita (Mentor). The mentor was present in this public defence by a direct link from Virginia Commonwealth University (Richmond, Virginia, U.S.A) with SEEU through video conferencing.

This was an ambitious and efficient attempt of the candidate to introduce a new approach in defending a thesis and also to forge a path for others to use the same approach.  Once more, this unique way of defending a thesis confirms that SEEU follows the latest trends and it offers more opportunities for outstanding achievements than anywhere else.
