During studies in marketing and innovation management, students will gain the skills needed to solve challenging business problems using a multidisciplinary approach. Students are committed to a promising (international) career thanks to current knowledge in the combination of business economics, quantitative methods and technology, management skills and language skills. More specifically, students will become managers who can make informed strategic decisions in response to economic challenges and opportunities. Students will also gain the skills needed to solve challenging business problems, to gain important knowledge on the specific challenges facing company life.

The study program is designed to provide students with the opportunity to supplement their core specialist skills with advanced marketing and innovation management skills, enabling them to better integrate data knowledge into their analysis and decision-making. At the same time, the study program corresponds to the needs of the labor market. As such, it will make a significant contribution to enabling students to build a professional career by obtaining higher education qualifications in line with the needs of the labor market.

Knowledge and understanding

To possess knowledge and understanding of the business environment, business entities and their operations in the context of applied business (economics, management, marketing, finance, programming, databases, computer and information systems, networks and data engineering).

Ability to develop and apply original and creative ideas in environments in which the areas of applied business overlap or are interrelated.

Ability to apply interdisciplinary knowledge and demonstrate specialist competencies in applied business.

Applying knowledge and understanding

Ability to critically, independently and creatively solve problems in new environments or in environments in which students have no previous experience in a multidisciplinary context of a real business environment or organizational environment. Planning, conducting and evaluating independent business research, implementing appropriate computational tools, environments and technologies.

Creativity and originality in the interpretation of knowledge from business processes and appropriate use of computer tools based on defined research and examination techniques. Has the knowledge to start and develop his/her own business.

Ability for creative integration and synthesis of knowledge from multiple areas related to business processes and the use of computer tools and techniques.

Semester 1

  • [C2118] [6 ECTS] Mathematics
    The subject aims to expand the basic knowledge of mathematics and develop students' skills and abilities in solving various problems and their application in the field of business and economics. Also, the second aim is to train students with the use of application programs to solve tasks and problems implemented in the field of business and economics. Topics covered in this subject are: numerical communities, numerical and variable expressions, linear and nonlinear equations, matrices, determinants, systems of linear equations, application of systems of linear equations in business and economics, arrays, arithmetic and geometric progression, numerical series, proportional calculation, simple interest, compound interest, periodic deposits, periodic rents, loans and loan amortization plan, different methods for loan amortization.
  • [C2117] [6 ECTS] Fundamentals of Business Economics
    The subject aims to introduce students to basic concepts and knowledge from the fields of economics and business. Lectures include topics such as: understanding economics and business, why economics is taught, its division into micro and macro economics, methods used in the exploitation of economic phenomena, unlimited needs and desires, insufficient resources - scarcity, compromise, choice and decision making. Later students will be introduced to other basic concepts such as: opportunity cost and limit of production possibilities, supply and demand, factors of production, economic systems and economic cycles. The following addresses important issues such as macroeconomic indicators, inflation, unemployment, production costs, etc. The last part of this subject deals with issues from business starting with the meaning of small business and entrepreneurship, its organization and expansion and ends with the topic on interdependence and utility from the international market.

    The subject aims to acquaint students with the essence of management and create a base which will be supplemented by other managerial and organizational subjects that students will listen to during their study. This subject has several main purposes, including: Students understand and clarify key management concepts and theories. - To initiate critical thinking in the classroom. - To enable students to use the information gained to give assessments and construct arguments. - To develop students' communication skills. - To inform students about the management process and the tasks of the manager. - To inform students about the planning process. - To inform students with decision-making processes and models. - To acquaint students with the organization, including the division of labor and the breadth and depth of management. - Students should be able to apply in practice knowledge on individual-organizational relationships and various elements related to organizational behavior, including personality, behaviors and perceptions. - Students gain knowledge on motivation and motivation theories.

    The subject aims to create, develop and advance the knowledge of students in the field of Marketing, as the foundation of the operation of a business of any industry. Through this subject students will be provided with basic knowledge about marketing concepts and principles; - To train students for management of market research, market segmentation, presentation of reports, etc. considering the needs, desires and behaviors of consumers ; - To acquaint students with the marketing environment, in reality with the macro and micro environmental factors, which directly affect the business success of the enterprise. - To professionally prepare students in implementation, which means the implementation and organization of the marketing concept in the organization through the elements of the marketing mix.

    The subject aims to introduce students to the principles and concepts of Microeconomics, which will introducs and enable Business and Economics students with the necessary analytical tools and techniques to analyze and provide solutions to relevant and current issues in the field of Microeconomics.     The subject aims to prepare students for the ways in which the environment, particularly government policy, influences business and how economic entities and other special interest groups create and change the rules of the game in which they operate. In today’s economy, a successful business strategy means more than surpassing rival companies; managers also need to design strategies to deal with global forces. Managers need to understand how public policy is conducted and how specific stakeholders, including their business, can influence the policy process. In this subject students will create knowledge about: - Public affairs management and stakeholder relations; - Corporate social responsibility; - Business in the globalized world; - Ethics, ethical judgment and ethical management; - Business-government relations; - Impact on the political environment; - Sustainable development and global business; - Regulation and management of information technology.

Through this subject students will be provided with basic macroeconomic knowledge about: - Gross Domestic Product (GDP); - aggregate supply and demand; - investment and consumption; - inflation; - unemployment; - state budget; - public debt; - monetary and fiscal policy, - international economic relations (trade and payment balance), etc.

    The aim of the subject is to help students understand the essence of accounting; learn the basic concepts and principles of accounting. In this regard, the subject aims to provide students with knowledge and understanding of financial statements, their balance sheet items, basic rules of accounting, generally accepted accounting principles, etc.

    The subject deals with the theoretical and practical explanation of the necessary and essential operations for the efficient management of the function of planning, organizing, directing and controlling the resources of a business that are needed to produce products and services in order to realize the maximum benefits. Students are provided with introductory, highly complete, concise and up-to-date knowledge about the place and role of operations management in the efficient management of businesses and to be trained in the practical application of the theoretical and professional framework related to operations management in businesses contemporary manufacturing and service. Students are expected to: - understand what operations management represents, what is the role of operations management in business, distinguish between different characteristics of operations processes. - understand what the operations strategy is and distinguish between the competitive and winning priorities of a business. Understand why designing a product or service process is important and what the design stages are. - understand what demand forecasting means and how capacity planning and system design should be done. - assess the importance for the survival of businesses in the global economy. - be able to build independent concepts related to the management of operations in manufacturing and service businesses through research and preparation of professional research projects in this field.

    The aim of the subject is to introduce students to the role and importance of human resource management in modern business organizations. Within this subject students will gain knowledge of human resource management processes, both in theory and in the practice of international and local companies.     The subject provides an overview of the economic techniques and analytical approaches available to the manager for business decision making. It includes topics such as pricing, forecasting, demand analysis, production and cost analysis, but also macroeconomic policies that affect the business environment. The aim of this subject is to develop an economic perspective that is appropriate for students aspiring to manage entire business units or companies in a wide variety of industries. The subject is part of the applied microeconomics. Microeconomics is the foundation of all economic analysis. This subject will present the basic postulates of microeconomics and illustrate the pervasive implications of these postulates when we examine real-world situations. The aim of this subject is for every student to "think like an economist" and feel good enough in microeconomic knowledge, to apply it in all spheres of life. In more detail, the objectives include: - Development of techniques for useful business decision making; - Detailed study of price theory and consumer choice; - Study of market structure and performance; and - Considering business problems from an economic perspective.

    The subject gives students an introduction to the role of computers and other information technologies in business. Computer conceptual knowledge is the focus of this subject. After introducing the basic concepts of computer use, these lectures pay special attention to current technological innovation in social and business environments. Topics include technology and organizational change, telecommunications, information age privacy, and online business security.
  • [CBE-402] [6 ECTS] Financial Accounting
    The subject has a general goal to improve the knowledge and skills of students in the field of accounting and a special goal is to complete the knowledge in the field of financial accounting dedicated to business companies in accordance with the LAS and International Accounting Standards (IAS). Implementation of the principles of double accounting by applying the principles of the accounting plan for business activities in Northern Macedonia in case of recording AAGJ and AASH, expenditures and revenues, recording liabilities and fiscal receivables and determining the financial result with the annual account in accordance with LAS and IAS. Compiling financial statements as the end product of financial accounting is a very important accounting, financial and economic product for business entities, the economy and the state.

    The subject aims to analyze the different fiscal policies applied in an economy by analyzing them as a reference point with the fiscal policies of other countries. Also, to analyze the fiscal aspects and their reflexes and repercussions in an economy, the various macro and microeconomic effects of different fiscal policies (restrictive, flexible, relaxing, etc.), as well as to enable students to create a real understanding of the need for taxation as "an evil without which it cannot be done" but that can create social welfare if managed fairly and efficiently. The aims of the course are: - Equipping students with knowledge of Public Finance, as one of the main pillars of macroeconomic policies and a fundamental instrument of the functioning of a national economy as a whole and as a subsystem of a country's economic system. - Equipping students with knowledge about public goods and expenses for their insurance, externalities, redistribution of social income, allocation and reallocation of income, social security and expenses for them, Cost-Benefit Analysis, income system social system, tax system and their structure, comparative aspects of public finances in developed and transition countries, the specifics of the Macedonian fiscal system, its trends and challenges, fiscal decentralization, etc. - Equipping students with the necessary professional knowledge related to the budget and extra-budgetary funds as the main instruments of fiscal policy, procedures of preparation, compilation, approval, implementation and control of the budget as well as techniques and principles of budget management for efficient management of the budget both centrally and locally. - Creating a clear picture to students of the functioning of a fiscal system by giving you reference points in terms of different fiscal theories with which they will be able to make a comparative difference and find the meeting points of operation of these systems in different. - Informing students in an informative way about the main fiscal policy indicators in the Republic of Macedonia, creating a real database on long-term fiscal trends in Macedonia by stimulating them to work independently on seminar papers and essays in the field of fiscal.

    The subject deals with the theoretical and practical explanation of the supply chain which is necessary and indispensable for the efficient management of the function for planning, procurement, inventory control, transportation and storage. Students will learn about topics such as designing supply and distribution networks in line with the firm's business and supply chain strategy as well as improving supply chain performance through SCOR, Lean and Six Sigma techniques. Students explore how different aspects of supply chain management are integrated within the firm, as well as coordinated with suppliers, trading partners, and logistics/transportation providers to deliver superior customer satisfaction. Making sound strategic and tactical decisions learned by managing a global consumer electronics supply chain through an on-line simulation.

    The course aims to enable students to apply new more analytical methods in the calculation, analysis, budgeting, control and evaluation of costs, revenues and profits of the company in order to make effective and efficient decision-making in the private sector of the economy, in the public sector and in other organizational systems.

    The subject examines topics in marketing strategy. Marketing strategy is about how to manage customers in order to maximize profits in the company. The emphasis of the subject will be on how to strategically manage the targeting process, gaining, retaining and growing clients. The subject will examine the management of the strategy and organization to build valuable clients for the growth and profits of the enterprise. Case studies will be discussed regarding the problems of a firm in each module so that students are able to apply the concepts learned, as well as the strategies that will be applied in each given situation.

    The subject is designed to enable students to evaluate and implement key elements of strategic analysis, to choose the right strategy within a flexible plan and to encourage thinking about the problems associated with implementing the organization's formulated strategy. The aim of this subject is to teach students to think critically about the issues and problems associated with choosing a strategy in a turbulent and dynamic environment and to understand that there is no single right way to develop a strategy.

    The subject aims to study finance, emphasizing their application in a wide range of real-world situations involving personal finance, corporate decision-making and financial intermediation. Key concepts and applications include: time value for money, risk-return exchange, cost of capital, interest rates, pension savings, mortgage financing, capital budgeting, asset valuation, internal rate of return, repayment period , etc. Topics included are: - Introduction to corporate finance - Time value of money - Bonds and their valuation - Shares and their evaluation - Net present value and other investment rules - Decision making for capital investments - Returns and Risks: Capital Price Model (CAPM) - Risk, cost of capital and capital budgeting - Enterprise financing decisions and efficient capital markets

    The subject provides an introduction to the principles of money, banking and finance markets. The content of the course is mainly related to the study of the structure and functions of financial systems. This subject focuses on each of the three main entities that make up a financial system: financial intermediaries, securities and financial markets. It then studies the change in the relative importance of financial intermediaries and financial markets around the world, and thus performs a historical and economic analysis of the reasons for the emergence of bank-based systems and market-based systems in different countries.

    The course includes topics that incorporate business topics that take place outside the state borders.     The aim of the subject is to enable students to develop an understanding of econometrics to a level that will equip them with the understanding and evaluation of the most applied cross-sectoral data analysis and to be able to undertake such analysis. More specifically, the aims of this subject are: - to develop an understanding of the use of regression analysis and related techniques for evaluating economic relations and testing economic theories - to enable students to read and evaluate empirical works in professional journals - to provide practical experience of using major regression programs (STATA 16) to generate economic models.

    The main objective of the subject is to develop a managerial understanding of marketing services. The subject will help students improve their knowledge in designing marketing strategies to improve the quality of services aimed at meeting customer expectations. The aim of the subject is to present, discuss and analyze some issues related to service enterprises. Upon successful completion of this subject, students will gain knowledge about the challenges that arise in marketing services, which will identify the differences between marketing services versus marketing in manufacturing enterprises. The subject will enable students to identify and analyze the various components of the mixed service marketing.

    Innovation management represents a set of approaches through which creativity and innovation are encouraged through various techniques and approaches. This subject will analyze the latest topics in the world literature related to innovation, creativity and their management process in various fields. In addition to theoretical analysis, this subject will enable practical access to students through creating real innovation and going through all the stages of learning methods of creating new ideas, as well as applying for funding and pitching.

    In this subject the basics of entrepreneurship and its practical implementation will be addressed. This subject will focus on entrepreneurship development, characteristics of entrepreneurs, differences between entrepreneurs and managers, identifying opportunities and generating ideas, identifying traditional and alternative sources of funding for entrepreneurial businesses, analyzing legal forms of organization and preparing a plan of business. The subject is also designed to provide basic entrepreneurial skills and to encourage students to examine, analyze and evaluate different models of entrepreneurial behavior. Also in this subject students will be introduced to the concepts of social, corporate and digital entrepreneurship.

    The subject focuses on the process of transforming data into information for solving business problems in the real world. The subject has a phased approach to knowledge generation: first, descriptive analytics is taught where visual analytics are used to characterize data; second, it teaches recommendatory analytics that focuses on the optimal strategies that "should" be undertaken in the future; third, predictive analytics is taught that focuses on the use of algorithms for predicting the future based on historical data. Topics include: data exploration, data preparation, nonlinear optimization, etc.

    The subject will include topics related to advertising and promotion: - research and analysis of market conditions; - understanding consumer behavior; - positioning strategies; - budget planning; - development and creation of promotional tools; - planning and promoting various cases and measuring the effectiveness of the promotion. - use of digital marketing to realize marketing communication through social networks.

    The aim of the subject is to examine the basic concepts by analyzing customer behavior in order to understand how these concepts can be applied when analyzing marketing problems. Principles from the social sciences will be applied (on topics such as care and perception, memory, motivation, attitudes, decision making, learning, and social impact) to marketing problems, such as communication, positioning, and customer relationships. The subject provides students with basic knowledge on the issues and dimensions of consumer behavior and develops their ability to apply behavioral theories and research techniques while addressing marketing problems. In this subject students learn how consumers make routine and complex decisions; what cognitive processes and experiences are involved in decisions; how behavior is influenced by the personal characteristics of the consumer, by the culture and reference groups, and the implications of consumer behavior for the marketing strategy. This subject will provide the student with a broad analysis of social, cultural, economic, psychological factors that influence consumer decision-making.

    The subject provides students with knowledge about the business benefits of digital marketing and its importance for a marketing success in an organization. Digital marketing is the marketing done through the internet. Digital marketing includes forms of advertising, the use of social networks through the internet, as well as the use of various digital media. Students are also trained on how to compile a marketing content; how to choose websites and how to use SEO optimization; how to gain basic knowledge about Google Analytics to measure the effects of digital marketing. The knowledge, skills and competencies gained will help students design and evaluate a digital marketing plan in order to effectively manage digital marketing performance.
