South East European University is committed to fairness in its dealing with its individual members and to ensuring that their rights are protected.
The Student Ombudsperson will independently and impartially investigate student complaints which have not been resolved by the department or faculty. S/he will not normally investigate a complaint until all other university complaint procedures have been completed.
Students can lodge a complaint by using the enquiry form at the Student Ombudsperson’s Office ordownload and complete it on line. Furthermore, you can arrange an appointment to meet with the Student Ombudsperson by ringing or emailing the office.
The USO will generally make informal enquires to try to resolve the matter and/ordecide whether an investigation is required. If the matter warrants further action, the USO may independently investigate the grievance. S/he has authority to consult with staff, inspect documents and obtain independent legal advice.
Following a formal investigation the Student Ombudsperson will make recommendations for resolution of the grievance to the relevant Faculty/Department and to the Secretary General. The Student Ombudsperson cannot force a faculty or department to change a decision or to adopt a recommendation.
You will be kept informed of progress of the investigation into your complaint.
The USO will report annually to the University Council on types of student complaint and grievances and on the overall operation of the Complaints and Grievance policy and procedures.
The services of the Ombudsperson are available to individual students or groups of students on any campus of the University.
