Academician Alajdin Abazi held an Inaugural Lecture in the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo

On Wednesday (24 April 2013), in the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, Academician Alajdin Abazi held an inaugural lecture on topic "CONCEPTS OF INTELLIGENT ENERGY NETWORKS AND QUALITY OF POWER".

In his introductory speech, the President of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo, Academician Hivzi Islami, said “We have always considered Academician Alajdin Abazi as part of our environment, hence his election as external member of our Academy was positively received and highly evaluated in the academic and intellectual circles of Kosovo and beyond.”

“The research and professional activities of Academician Alajdin Abazi are multi-disciplinary. Based on his publications, lectures and professional and research projects the following basic fields can be distinguished: Theoretical Electrotechnics, dielectric materials, energy and environment and higher education. In international and regional journals and conferences Academician Alajdin Abazi as author and co-author has published more than 100 research and professional papers. He is author of five university text books”, said academician Islami.

Speaking about the biography of Alajdin Abazi, the head of the Academy of Sciences and Arts, said that the Serbian authorities failed to overcome the strong will of Alajdin Abazi, in contrary he was more motivated and steadfastly continued the work to contribute to the academic life and scientific social environments of Albanians in Macedonia and especially he has distinguished himself in organizational matters concerning the formation and establishment of the South East European University in Tetovo. He also mentioned the tough stand of Academician Abazi, against the Macedonian Encyclopaedia, where Albanians were heavy insulted, a stand that led to the withdrawal of the Encyclopaedia and the start of work on the new encyclopaedia.

“My election as external member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts has a particular significance for me, as for decades I have been professor at the University of Prishtina. This is a great recognition for me," said Alajdin Abazi, who presented in detail his inauguration lecture.

Acadamecian Alajdin Abazi is member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Macedonia (2006, MANU), member of the Albanian Academy of Sciences and Arts (2011, ASHASH) and member of the Academy of Sciences and Arts of Kosovo (2012, ASHAK). He is Rector Emeritus at SEEU, awarded with title Doctor Honoris Causa.
