During the official visit, the SEEU delegation met with representatives of many prestigious Dutch universities and institutes: Prof. Genugten, (Dean of the Hague InstituteforGlobal Justice) and Prof. Dr. Leo de Haan, (Rector of the Institute for Social Studies (ISS), Hague - part of Erasmus University in Rotterdam).
Also, during this visit, representatives of the University were received by Prof. Dr. Jaap de Hoop Scheffer, (former Secretary General of NATO), currently President of the Grotius Centre for International Legal Studies - part of Leiden University.
In Amsterdam, the SEE University delegation was received by the Rector of the University of Amsterdam, Louise Gunning, and in Leiden by the Rector of the Leiden University, Paul F. Van der Heijden.
In all meetings, beside the friendly and collegial atmosphere, was recalled the diplomatic preventive philosophy of Max van der Stoel, as an inheritance, but at the same time as an orientation for SEEU and the newly formed Institute that bears his name, and was considered the possibility of bilateral cooperation in more academic areas. It is worth emphasizing the field of research and joint scientific projects between Dutch institutes and research centres and the SEEU Institute Max van der Stoel Institute in the field of regional security, preventive diplomacy and conflict prevention and resolution in Balkans. In addition the possibilities for exchange of academic staff in master and doctoral studies were discussed.
