Zamir Dika: Van der Stoel was champion for human rights all over the world

On behalf of all staff and students SEEU’s Rector, Prof. Dr Zamir Dika sent a telegram of condolence to the family of the late Mr. Max van der Stoel, the Netherlands Embassy in Macedonia, and OSCE.

The telegram states: “We were deeply saddened to learn about the death of Mr. Max van der Stoel, the former Dutch Foreign Minister, career diplomat and one of the pioneers for establishing the South Еast European University in Tetovo. Dear family of our great friend, this is a bereaving time for you but also for the whole community of the South East European University. We were happy to have known this extraordinary man. He was a great leader full of warmth and understanding for people and was always ready to help them. We have lost a dedicated friend and champion for human rights all over the world. We shall always remember him for his outstanding contribution and dedication to peace and prosperity. At these moments of sorrow, and on behalf of the South East European University, staff, and students, I would like to express my sincere condolences for the loss of your beloved and our dear friend Max van der Stoel”.

Оn 27 April 2011 (Wednesday) a commemoration in the honour of Max van der Stoel will be held at the South East European University. Representatives of the Government of the Republic of Macedonia, Netherlands Embassy and Mission of OSCE in Skopje are invited to the commemoration .
