SEEU Excels in Tirana: Faculty of Law Attains Third Place at the “University Law Competition 2026”

Today, at the official award ceremony in Tirana, the Faculty of Law of the South East European University (SEEU) accepted the third-place award won at the nationwide moot court competition “University Law Competition 2026,” thereby ranking among the top three teams of this prestigious legal contest.

The “University Law Competition 2026” is a prestigious competition organized by the Halimi Foundation (Fondacioni Halimi) with the support of the Embassy of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Tirana and other international partners. This fourth edition was designed as a televised moot court that brought together the most outstanding law students from Albania, Kosovo, and North Macedonia, creating a regional platform to promote legal excellence, critical thinking, and the rule of law.

The SEEU Faculty of Law team, consisting of students Flutura Xhemaili, Amina Ademi, and Remzije Abazi, under the leadership and mentorship of Prof. Dr. Vedije Ratkoceri, managed to rank among the top three teams in this competition, which took place on May 16 and 17 in Tirana.

A total of 16 teams from law faculties across the Republic of Albania, the Republic of Kosovo, and the Republic of North Macedonia participated in this edition. Following several weeks of intensive preparation and three rounds of oral pleadings, the SEEU team stood out for its high level of legal argumentation, the quality of procedural briefs, professional presentation, and teamwork.

As part of the won prize, the students will conduct a study visit to the European Court of Human Rights in Strasbourg—a significant academic and professional experience that will provide them with firsthand insight into European practice and jurisprudence in the field of human rights.

It is worth noting that this is the third consecutive time that students from the SEEU Faculty of Law have participated in this prestigious competition, while in 2024, the SEEU team emerged as the first-place winner.

This success demonstrates the commitment of the SEEU Faculty of Law to the academic and practical preparation of its students, creating conditions and opportunities for developing professional skills, critical thinking, and legal competences at an internationally competitive level.
