Candidates for Rector of SEEU presented their programmes in the last Senate meeting

The four candidates for Rector of the South East European University presented their programmes in front of the Senate members in a solemn atmosphere.

The current Rector of SEEU, Academician Alajdin Abazi, in this occasion said it is important for the new decade of the University to listen to new ideas and visions by the candidates. “All that is presented before us today should be in the interest of the successful journey of this unique institution of higher education in Macedonia and the region," pointed out Rector Abazi.

In line with the decision of the Executive Committee, from the meeting held on 13 March 2010, all four eligible candidates for the position of Rector presented their programmes (respectively in alphabetic order): Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, Prof. Dr. Agni Dika, Prof. Dr. Murtezan Ismaili and Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika.

The Senate members commented, analysed, gave suggestions, and addressed constructive questions to the candidates. Based on the SEE University Statute, the University Senate does not decide for the appointment of the new rector. In the coming meeting in the begging of June, the University Board will decide about the new rector, with closed ballot. The new Rector of SEEU will be appointed with the majority of votes from Board members and the appointment procedure is in line with the SEEU Statute.

It should be emphasized that the rector is the main executive leader of the University and as such, reports to the University Board, which consists of international and national members. The competition for the new rector of SEEU was open until February 26th 2010, where advantage was given to candidates with effective communication in the three languages used at the University (Albanian, Macedonian and English).
