Addressing students and academic staff, Ambassador Meidani emphasized the importance of diplomacy as a key instrument for strengthening regional stability and advancing the European Union integration process. He particularly highlighted current political and diplomatic developments in the region, existing security challenges, and the role of higher education in building sustainable partnerships among Western Balkan countries.
Prior to the lecture, Ambassador Meidani met with the Rector of SEEU, Prof. Dr. Sadudin Ibraimi, where they discussed strengthening regional and international academic cooperation, as well as diplomatic support for educational and scientific initiatives. The meeting was attended by the Vice-Rector for Planning, Research and Entrepreneurship, Prof. Dr. Veland Ramadani, the Advisor for Academic Planning and Digitalization, Prof. Dr. Florije Ismaili, and the Advisor for Community Relations and International Relations, Prof. Dr. Besa Arfi
The lecture opened with a welcome address by Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, who underlined the importance of inter-institutional cooperation and the role of diplomacy in building effective channels of communication between universities and state institutions.
In his presentation, Ambassador Meidani shared insights into Albania’s diplomatic perspectives in the region, with particular emphasis on European integration processes, regional security, and the need to strengthen inter-university academic cooperation.
The event concluded with an interactive and constructive discussion session with students, during which topics of particular interest were raised regarding the role of youth, higher education, and diplomacy in strengthening regional and European relations.
The lecture was moderated by Prof. Ariton Rama, who also led the interactive discussion with the attending students.
The lecture was organized by the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences at SEEU, as part of the University’s ongoing commitment to facilitating direct dialogue between students and diplomats, as well as other prominent public figures.
