bringing knowledge to life!

ChallengeEU: The Beginning of a New Chapter!

Nine European universities united in Offenburg on 12 March to sign a Consortium Agreement, officially launching the ChallengeEU Alliance. This initiative aims to increase the quality and competitiveness of European higher education, strengthen integration and facilitate mobility for students, academic staff and the scientific community. The project, in addition to other strategic objectives, places particular emphasis on transforming universities into components of supporting industry impact, digital aspects, teaching with knowledge and skills of tomorrow, which will respond to the digital generation and the transformed labor market and society in general.

One of the universities that will play a key role in connecting the Alliance is South East European University. On this occasion, the Rector of the South East European University, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, among other things, emphasized:

“Regional context is a unique concept and countries with small geographical sizes can have influence and cooperation beyond their borders. Currently, about 10-15% of students come from the Western Balkan countries. Changes are happening at a rapid pace in our region as well, but there is a significant gap between the theoretical knowledge that is learned and the practical skills that are applied in reality.”

The ChallengeEU Alliance includes universities from Germany, North Macedonia, France, Sweden, Portugal, Poland, Latvia, Spain and Switzerland. The partner universities will create a joint European campus for knowledge exchange and academic development.

Through this alliance, the traditional university model will be transformed, integrating an innovative approach to teaching, research and professional training. It also aims to create an inter-university campus, promote inclusive education and develop a shared innovative ecosystem.

With over 83,000 students and 9,000 academic staff, ChallengeEU aims to connect universities with the public and private sectors, ensuring that higher education is ready for the challenges of the future.
