A round-table discussion was held on paid political advertising on internet portals during election campaigns

Today (January 29, 2025), the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences in collaboration with the International Foundation for Electoral Systems (IFES), organized at the South East European University a round-table on the topic “Paid Political Advertising on Internet Portals During Election Campaigns".

Students, academic staff, and experts in the field participated in this event, discussing the challenges and possible solutions for a more transparent and fair electoral process.

The Rector of South East European University Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, in his opening speech, emphasized the university's commitment to supporting such socially important activities. "We teach students how important it is to have a fair electoral process," he said.

The purpose and importance of this round-table were discussed by Prof. Dr. Mertita Zulfiu – Alili, Dean of the Faculty of Contemporary Social Sciences and Ioana Cosma, Director of IFES in North Macedonia.

In the main panel, Dr. Sam Power expert on political and party financing and Vladimir Georgiev expert on anti-corruption and former member of the SCPC, shared their analyses on current challenges and mechanisms to increase transparency in political advertising in online media.

This round-table was organized within the framework of the project "Money, Media and Elections in North Macedonia", funded by the United Kingdom Government and supported by the British Embassy in Skopje.
