Before the lecture, Ambassador Aggeler was received in a meeting by the Rector of the South East European University--Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, accompanied by the Pro-Rector for International Cooperation and Research--Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi.
Rector Bexheti thanked the ambassador for the visit and the continued support of the United States in the development of SEEU, emphasizing the benefits of partnerships with American universities.
"I would like to thank the American taxpayers for their continued support and encouragement, not only in infrastructure, but also in superstructure, enabling 1/3 of the staff to be part of study programs at various American universities and build their international careers" said Rector Bexheti.
For her part, Ambassador Aggeler praised the importance of SEEU as an educational partner of the United States.
"I am honored to be here and I am very happy to meet with the students. SEEU as an educational partner has welcomed many Fulbright scholars for many years and is the largest contributor to academic exchange between the two countries," said the Ambassador.
In her lecture, Ambassador Aggeler spoke about the importance of higher education in building a developed society and the key role that young people play in addressing global challenges. She emphasized the continued support of the United States for North Macedonia in its democratic and integration processes.
Students had the opportunity to ask Ambassador Aggeler questions, which included topics from the US--North Macedonia bilateral relationship, global challenges, and the role of youth in promoting peace and stability.
At the end of the lecture, in a sign of gratitude, on behalf of the students, the President of the Student Parliament, Mevlan Ademi, gave to the Ambassador Aggeler a plaque with the SEEU emblem, in gratitude for the continuous support that the Embassy and the Ambassador provide to young people.
This activity reflected the joint commitment of the US Embassy and the South East European University to the development of education and strengthening international partnerships.
