The event opened with welcoming speeches by the Rector of SEEU, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, the Ambassador of the European Union to North Macedonia, Mr. Michalis Rokas, and the GIZ Director for North Macedonia, Mr. David Oberhuber.
The Rector of the South East European University, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti thanked the EU and GIZ for implementing this project within the 700 Accelerator program, where 10 start-ups from the acceleration program have already participated in 12 weeks of training from internal (SEEU) and external experts from our partnerships.
Rector Bexheti noted that this hub represents more than just a coworking space; it is a center of innovation, collaboration, and entrepreneurship. It is dedicated to empowering startups, fostering sustainable solutions, and driving economic growth in our region.
With the support of the EU for Economic Growth project, which is co-funded by the European Union, German Government and implemented by GIZ and Area Science Park and the invaluable contributions of SEEU, this space has become a reality-an achievement made possible through our collective efforts and shared commitment for progress.
The Ambassador of the European Union to North Macedonia, Mr. Michalis Rokas emphasized the critical role of youth, education, and innovation in shaping Europe's future, highlighting the importance of universities and initiatives like the Accelerator 700 program in fostering startups, supporting vulnerable groups, and driving digital transformation. He stressed the need for resilience and a positive mindset in entrepreneurship, citing global success stories where failure was part of the journey. The program, developed in collaboration with partners like Southeast European University, aims to enhance regional development, talent cultivation, and partnerships. With North Macedonia positioned as an attractive yet underutilized investment destination, the EU remains committed to supporting sustainable projects that align with the broader goal of advancing the country's EU accession process.
Following this, Mr. Mark Barrett, EU Project Manager for Economic Growth, introduced the startups participating in the "700 Accelerator" program. During the presentation session, nine startups had the opportunity to present their innovative ideas and solutions.
The ceremony concluded with a networking session, providing an opportunity for participants to share ideas and make new connections.
"700 Accelerator Hub" represents an important step in promoting the startup ecosystem and developing young talent in North Macedonia.
