The Faculty of Law held a panel discussion to mark the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women

The Faculty of Law of the South East European University with a panel discussion, which was held on Thursday (November 25, 2021), attended by the Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, marked the International Day for the Elimination of Violence Against Women.

In the panel, besides Minister Haxhiu were also the Pro-Dean of the Faculty of Law, Arta Selmani - Bakiu; the representative of the NGO "Mollëkuqja", Rita Behadini; Family Therapist living in London, Adelina Badivuku; Professor Vedije Ratkoceri; and Nermine Izairi, senior inspector at the Ministry of Internal Affairs.

The panel was opened by the Pro-Dean Arta Selmani, who spoke about the activities undertaken by the Faculty of Law in terms of education and professionalism of young staff in the protection of human rights and in particular women's rights.

The Minister of Justice of Kosovo, Albulena Haxhiu, thanked the Faculty of Law and the management of SEEU for the invitation to be part of this important event. "Only with the coordination of the activities of all parties and in the first place of state institutions and non-governmental organizations domestic violence can be fought", said Minister Haxhiu.

Well-known therapist Adelina Badivuku spoke about cases in the world and other statistics of domestic violence with concrete data.

Professor Vedije Ratkoceri spoke about the importance of SEEU and the Faculty of Law in educating the younger generation. She stressed the fact that many courses dealing with domestic violence have been accredited in order to raise awareness and provide students with solid knowledge to deal with cases of domestic violence and its elimination.

Nermine Izairi spoke about cases of violence against women and domestic violence in general, who presented some data on the actions taken by the Ministry of Internal Affairs to respond in time to cases of violence against women. Rita Behadini spoke about the activity undertaken by the Non-Governmental Organization "Mollëkuqja", the campaigns that she organizes on social networks and beyond.
