Representatives of the NGO "World Chicago", USA visited SEEU

On Tuesday (17th December 2019), a US delegation from ‘World Chicago’, led by its President Peggy Parfenoff, visited South East European University. The representatives of the American NGO were welcomed by the Pro-Rector for Research and International Cooperation, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi. She, on behalf of Rector Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti thanked the guests for their interest in getting acquainted with SEEU activity. In the following, the Pro-Rector presented the history of the University, its establishment and the need for its existence, as well as its mission and strategy.

President of World Chicago presented the Professional Fellowship Program that they offer through the US Embassy (State Labor Department), which deals with the exchange of economic development professionals where topics such as entrepreneurship, start-up companies, development business and mentorship are discussed.

Representatives were particularly interested in the topic of community resistance and the prevention of violent extremism, where they focused most on the multicultural topic and how the institution approaches this topic, the University's long-term activities, plans and strategies to overcome the challenges of cultural and ethnic differences.

After meeting followed a campus tour where representatives were welcomed by startup companies at SEEU TechPark, where one of the current companies at SEEU TechPark "Inspire 11" already collaborates with this professional exchange organization in Chicago.
