SEEU perspective in Vienna Conference on Religious Education

Professor Ali Pajaziti from the Faculty of Public Administration and Political Sciences participated in Religious Education in South-East Europe, a conference at the University of Vienna  from 23-25.10.2009. The conference was organised by the Department for Legal Philosophy, Law of Religion and Culture, Austrian Federal Ministry of Science and Research, Austria Cooperation, Institute for the Danube Region and Central Europe and Austrian Cultural Association.   Prof. Pajaziti presented the paper,   Religious education in Macedonia. He posited a theoretical-analytical-sociological approach for including religion (religious education, history of religions or ethics) in a formal education network. He argued that it was one way to solve social problems, like drug addiction, alcoholism, anomy, suicide, etc. of today’s hyper-modernized society where authentic and healthy solutions are needed. In addition, the tractate examined the concepts of secularism, youth, global crisis, religious revivalism, multiculturalism and tolerance.
