A roundtable on multicultural education as a way to enhance social cohesion and equal opportunities was held at SEEU

On Tuesday (28 March 2019), at South East European University in Tetovo, OSCE High Commissioner on National Minorities (HCNM) convened a discussion on multicultural education as a way to enhance social cohesion and equal opportunities.

On this occasion, the office of the HCNM was joined, among others, by the Nansen Dialogue Centre Skopje (NDC) from the Republic of North Macedonia and the Association for Historical Dialogue and Research (AHDR) from Cyprus. Both organizations are past winners of the Max van der Stoel Award, which is presented jointly by the Government of the Netherlands and the HCNM.

The roundtable engaged the representatives of relevant authorities, academics, practitioners and students in a structured conversation on the challenges of implementing education reform in the Republic of North Macedonia, including overcoming obstacles related to language barriers and building channels of dialogue between communities. The speakers drew upon relevant HCNM thematic Recommendations and Guidelines and contextualized them to encourage cross-community dialogue.
