Besnik Fetai and Izet Zeqiri will participate at the International Conference on Global Financial Crises
27 October 2009Assistant Professor Besnik Fetai and Asoc. Professor Izet Zeqiri will participate at the Sixth International Conference of the European Centre for Peace and Development (ECPD) in Brioni, Croatia, October 28-30, 2009. The topic for the conference is National and inter-ethnic religious reconciliation, religious, tolerance and human securities in the Balkans.
SEEU professors will present on “The impact of global financial crisis on the economies of Southeast European countries” under the section titled: The global economic crisis and its effect on economic and social development of the Balkan countries.
The main point of the presentation by SEEU professors is that current mechanisms of the world economic system as a whole or partially are not accessible or applicable to the economies of the Southeast European countries. These economies should focus more on stimulating domestic demands, by reducing the interest rates of short-term loans and increasing capital costs of the budget to soften the effects of the recession, which are deeper than in advanced economies.
