The Italian Language Week was celebrated at SEEU

On Thursday (18th October), within the celebration of the Italian Language Week in the World, a panel discussion on the topic: “I, my life in a network (lo,la vita in rete)” was organized at South East European University.

This promotional event was attended by students of the Italian Language Department, Pro-rector for Research and International Relations--Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, the Italian Ambassador to Macedonia--HE Carlo Romeo.

Prior to the panel, the Italian Ambassador, H.E. Karlo Romeo, had a meeting with Pro-rector for Research and International Relations, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi. At this meeting were discussed issues of common interest, as well as opportunities for deepening cooperation between the two sides.

In her address, the Pro-Rector for Research and International Relations, Prof. Dr. Besa Arifi, pointed out the fact that the South East European University has serious approach on using more languages in communication.

“In addition to official languages used at the University level, the Language Centre offers other important language courses and we aspire that our students to be excellent in Italian, German, French, Spanish, Turkish, etc. On my name and on behalf of the Rector, Acad. Prof. Dr. Abdylmenaf Bexheti, I would like to thank the Italian Embassy in Macedonia for the continuous support that they give us in teaching and cultivation of the Italian language at our University” said among others Pro-rector Arifi.

The Italian Ambassador H.E. Carlo Romeo in his address speech to the students spoke about the importance of celebration of the Italian Language Week in the World, saying that this is the 18th edition and that this year over 130 Italian embassies and consulates around the world, are marking this week.

“The Italian Embassy is interested to deepen cooperation not only with SEEU, but also with other institutions, because in this part of Macedonia there are preconditions to extend cooperation” said Ambassador Romeo.

Led by the Italian language professor--Viktorija Elenova, following students shared their experience about Italian language and culture: Zihra Abazi, Veli Adili and Burhan Pajaziti, from the Faculty of Business and Economics; Aleksandar Shopovski, MA in Telecommunications at the Politecnico di Torino; Vokrim Demiri, a graduate in political science, also an expert in the business sector and Gzime Fejzi, entrepreneur and owner, active in promotion of women entrepreneurs in Macedonia.
