SEEU hosts Students from German Universities for the Summer School for Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Studies

From 26 August – 2 September 2017 South East European University hosted a summer school on the topic ‘Entrepreneurship and Intercultural Studies.' Students of two German universities and from South East European University worked together at this summer school, bringing together real practices from the business market in Macedonia and Germany. Students also conducted study visits to different enterprises, where they were able to implement the practical aspects of their theoretical knowledge.

This summer school was organized by the Faculty of Business and Economics of SEEU; the South Westfalia University of Applied Sciences; and the University of Education in Weingarten, Germany. The seminar was conducted with the mediation and assistance of the German expert for specialized studies engaged in the South East European University, Norbert Marx.

“The summer school presents a useful experience for our students to look at entrepreneurship opportunities in an intercultural aspect. This was successful co-operation, and some business ideas emerged from the discussions, such as: water filtering enterprise, recycling enterprise, and the creation of software for combating corruption”, said Prof. Dr. Ewald Mittelstädt, from South Westfalia University of Applied Sciences.

“Our students and the German students in this school have a high level of interactivity. The program foresees not only the theoretical part but also the practical part, so that they--through the models related to the entrepreneurial and intercultural studies--discuss and develop different activities," stated the Coordinator of the Summer School, Fitim Deari.

The delegation of the German universities also met the Rector of SEEU, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, with whom they exchanged ideas for the continuation of this cooperation initiative.

In their free time, the German students also had the opportunity to visit some monuments of local cultural heritage in Tetovo, Skopje and Ohrid
