Prof. Latifi's paper was on the topic “International Security, the Geopolitical Context and Political Implications of the Refugee Crisis”.
The paper explored what the refugee crisis means for international security and why it should be treated as a concern for international stability. He outlined the new models of international security concepts within international relations as a result of the ongoing refugee crisis, of the Syrian crisis and of Turkish-Russian tensions, as well as their implications to the European Union’s external challenges and priorities.
While discussing the geopolitical context of the refugee crisis and its political implications, Prof. Latifi outlined scenarios of how the refugee crises would affect the EU perspectives of certain regions, including the Balkans.
