In his lecture Judge Hinojosa explained the evolution of the process of determining penalties in the US by emphasizing the great importance of guidelines for the measurement of sanctions. In this context he elaborated upon the connection with the current legal reform process in Macedonia.
Considering the fact that in 2014, the Law on Measurement of Punishment was adopted, this lecture touched a topic of much current sphere of criminal law and legal reform in Macedonia. Students asked various questions related to the work and experience of Judge Hinojosa, who during his 32-year career as a judge, also has served on the Commission for Measurement of Sentencing in the US.
This lecture was organized in cooperation between the SEEU Faculty of Law and the Bureau of International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs, which operates within the US Embassy in Skopje.
