Speaking about the publication the Rector of the South East European University, Prof. Dr. Zamir Dika, stressed the importance of these proceedings, because they emphasize the need for new generations to learn an objective history, written with firm scientific competence and relevant arguments.
“The authors presented in this review come from related fields, but are not necessarily homogeneous in terms of viewpoints, because only in this way can one build a genuine survey methodology of the past, which necessarily requires a rational and unemotional distance from the history and events being examined” said the Rector.
The Pro-rector for International Relations of SEEU, Prof. Dr. Blerim Reka, expressed his satisfaction with the publication of this special edition of SEEU Review, commemorating such an important historical event for Albanians, one in which Albania was internationally recognized as a state, but in which the Albanians were divided as a nation.
“In this review, for the first time their scientific judgment, not only Albanian and Macedonian authors, but also foreign scholars and diplomats from the US, UK, France, Poland and Bulgaria, shared their research ", he said.
The Rector’s Advisor, Demush Bajrami, said the essays in these proceedings reflect on the development of a major event that will decide the fate of the Balkans.
“In this way, geopolitical order established at the Congress of Berlin in 1878, would be replaced in London with a new agreement”, said Demush Bajrami.
The guest speaker for this event, Indiana University Professor Emeritus Bernd J. Fischer, said that he is honoured to have served as both a contributor to, and co-editor of, this volume.
“The Albanian national question is arguably the last major ethnic issue facing Europe today” said Prof. Fisher.
The publication of this scientific review is a result of a two-year scientific research conducted by 40 local and international researchers.
