The Day of Climate Changes—4 November—was marked at SEEU. On this occasion, the Institute of Environment and Health, together with students, professors and University management, organized ecological action in the University yard and scientific forum. This action, as explained by Rector Zamir Dika, has a symbolic message which is that every citizen, organization or institution can make their own contribution to a clean environment.
The second part of the observance agenda included a scientific forum entitled: Climate Changes and Macedonia. This event had the aim of defining and raising understanding of the state of climate changes in Macedonia.
At this forum participated the Italian Ambassador in Macedonia, HE Ernesto Beleli, who appreciated the work done in protection of the environment.
The forum was opened with a welcome speech by the Rector, who emphasised that he was privileged to host the event. He noted that SEEU is an institution where initiatives for the environment are undertaken. He also pointed out that these kinds of forum provide evidence for future actions for the environment and for the planet as a whole. At the University, we have implemented a Climate Action Plan that corresponds with our policy for energy efficiency. Our obligation is to establish an ecological culture and to sustain regional development.
The Minister of Environment and Spatial Planning, Nurhan Izairi, stated that following the trends and demands of the Government of RM, the Ministry (with the support of the Program for Development of the UN) and in coordination with all relevant actors (ministries, institutions, scientific public, civil associations etc.) drafted three national reports on climate changes.
The Minister once again stressed the importance of responsible behaviour by every individual, since only with common care we can achieve the desired results.
